Moon Trading is a simulated investing app from Moon Technologies, a trading name of Broadwater Consulting Limited. You start with a notional ten thousand pounds, and every order is scored before it fills on how well it fits the portfolio you already hold.

What the score is made of
Seven weighted factors, each measured against the portfolio you hold at the moment you place the order. The app shows you every one, with the number behind it and the reasoning in plain English.

Some trades are capped regardless of everything else. Put more than half the portfolio into one company and no combination of good factors will lift the score above 34, because nothing offsets single-company risk at that size.
Ranked on judgement, not returns
The leaderboard sorts on points earned from trade quality. It shows profit and loss, but it does not rank on it. Ranking on returns rewards whoever took the biggest undiversified bet that month, which is the behaviour the app exists to discourage.
A weekly game alongside it
Separately from your portfolio, you can pick ten stocks a week, no more than three from any one sector, and name a captain whose points double. Scoring is adjusted for how much market risk each stock carries, so you cannot win by simply picking the most volatile things on the list. It is free to enter and there are no monetary prizes.
Built for people learning
No real money
Balances, positions and results are simulated. There is no brokerage account, no order routing and no payment details.
Simulated prices
Real companies, simulated prices. Orders fill at the next simulated close rather than instantly, which removes the incentive to react to noise.
Reasoning, not verdicts
Every factor explains itself. The aim is that you stop needing the score, not that you chase it.
